About Batoka Gorge Hydro Electric Scheme Project

The proposed Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme (BGHES) is located on the Zambezi River approximately 54 km downstream of the world famous Victoria Falls.

The project site is located across the boundary between Zambia and Zimbabwe at Grid Reference 055-178 (scale 1:50000).

The governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe invite Investors, Development Financing Institutions and Developers in the Hydropower Sector to explore investment opportunities in the upcoming Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme (BGHES). The investment opportunities will be presented at an investors' conference to be held at David Livingstone Safari Lodge, Livingstone - Zambia on the 30th of March 2017. The 2400MW BGHES, a regional project, is located on the Zambezi River 54km downstream of the Victoria Falls. The scheme will on average generate 10,215 GWh annually at a very competitive unit generating cost.
