The Kariba Lake is designed to operate between levels 475.50m and 488.50m (with 0.70m freeboard) for hydropower generation.
The Lake level has been increasing due to intense rainfall on the lake and immediate catchment, closing the period under review at 477.00m (10.35% usable storage) as of 26th January 2026, compared to 476.36m (5.97% usable storage) recorded on the same date last year.
